Mallards Take Down Rafters in Rain-Shortened Affair
Madison, WI - A seven run second inning lifted the Madison Mallards over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in eight innings tonight at the "Duck Pond," winning by a score of 10-7.

Three runs were walked in by Rafters starter Antonio Gonzales (UC- Riverside) in the second, and he was charged for all seven runs that came home in the inning. The Mallards had three singles, five walks and were aided by two Rafters errors in that inning.

The Rafters would respond with three of their own runs in the third and another three in the fifth, in addition to scoring once in the first inning.

Mallards starter A.J. Bogucki (North Carolina) went four innings, earning all seven runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out two.

Right fielder Connor Marabell (Jacksonville) came through for the Mallards in the seventh, roping a two RBI double down the right field line to put the Mallards up 9-7. Marabell finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and one run.

Third baseman Trent Higginbothem (North Florida) added an RBI groundout later in the inning to bring the Mallards tally to ten.

Andrew Buckley (California) held the Rafters scoreless in relief to get the win, giving up no hits while walking one in 1.2 innings of work.

The game was called in the bottom of the eighth inning after field conditions were deemed unplayable.
